Le Nuove Musiche is ensemble devoted to the historically informed performance of the early
Baroque, with a focus on Italian music. The ensemble mostly specializes in the era of monody –
the time of origination and early development of opera or violin sonatas as well. The ensemble
uses copies of historical instruments, among others chitarrone (theorbo), Baroque guitar, violin,
cello, viola da gamba, arpa doppia. In addition to the performance of music on historical
instruments Le nuove musiche pays attention to the research and presentation of unknown
works in Slovakia. The name of the ensemble means “new music” what is an expression of the
long-term goal of the ensemble: to stage historical, unknown or little known music and present
new experiences to the audience. Le nuove musiche regularly performs at the main Slovak
stages including Slovak Philharmonic (2020), and regularly appears at the festivals and concerts
in European countries.
